Immersive multi-channel video and improvisational sound performance that explores questions of externalized gesture and space as a concrete place of encounter and co-playing.

The transmedial duo INTER_SECTION - Sabine Ercklentz (trumpet, electronics) and Claudia Schmitz (moving image on Skultpur, electronics, Unfolded Screen) - develops space-related audiovisual real-time performances with different guests, including gestural and intermedial transmissions.

For the project # 1.1 Mutual Friend, the duo continued the collaboration started in 2020 with pianist Magda Mayas to jointly explore the meaning of space - as a concrete place of encounter and as co-performer.

In the performance itself, the separation of audience and stage is eliminated in exchange for a communally shared perceptual space.

The goal is to create a sound-image synthesis in real time, in which the dichotomous perception of image and sound and the linear perception of causes and effects are replaced in favor of a collective sound-image-space experience.
